Sealing is the backbone of preserving your stones natural beauty and reducing routine maintenance. Naturally, stone is quite porous and will readily absorb water and oil based liquids, which can lead to adverse affects other than staining. The sealing process not only prevents your stone surface from absorbing stains but also protects the treated surface against fungal growth, efflorescence, picture framing and salt attack. We only use premium sealers and can warrant our sealing work for 15 years.

We specialise in:
- Penetrating sealers - Also known as impregnating sealers as they impregnate the material with hydrophobic and oleophobic molecules without changing the materials colour or texture or reflective properties. The result is a material that will repel water and oil based liquids but have no other physical change.
- Enhancing sealers - These penetrating sealers will enrich the natural colour of the material without changing its texture or reflective properties, while making the material repel water and oil based liquids.
- Topical sealers - Unlike penetrating sealers that are active inside the material, topical sealers are present on the surface of the treated material. This type of sealer will enrich the materials natural colour and as it sits on top of the surface will slightly change its texture and its reflective properties while making the material water and oil repellant. We offer topical sealers in high gloss and low sheen and even add anti-slip particles to make the surface slip resistant.

To test wether your stone needs sealing:
- Put a few drops of water on your stone (about the area of a 5 cent coin).
- Rub the water into the stone for 5 seconds with your finger.
- Wipe the surface completely dry with a paper towel or soft cloth. The area should be slightly darker than the surrounding stone.
- Count how long it takes for the darker area to dry out.
- If it took longer than 5 seconds to completely dry out and return to its surrounding colour, your stone requires sealing.
